Welcome to my website! I’m a writer, editor, and poet from southwest Colorado currently based in Western Montana. I bring nuance, empathy, and deep critical analysis to my work, which often engages masculinity, violence, and the natural world.
My first poetry collection, Echolocation, which intricately weaves the landscapes and ecologies of the American West against themes of violence, adolescence, and beauty, was published on October 1, 2024, from Middle Creek Publishing. Snag a signed copy here.
My creative work has been featured or is forthcoming in publications such as The Missouri Review, swamp pink, The Appalachian Review, Catamaran, and elsewhere. I’m currently working on a memoir in essays called ‘The Barbs’ that delves into the intersections of ice hockey, the outdoors, the West, boyhood, violence, and masculinity. My essay “Cutting the Ice” was named notable in Best American Essays 2021.
I’m also an accomplished journalist and editor. From 2021 to 2023, I was the News Editor for Field & Stream, where I led the renowned publication’s daily news coverage. I’m currently a contributing editor for Field & Stream and write longer investigative pieces, adventure narratives, and hunting and fishing gear coverage. Over the years, I’ve also contributed to nationally renowned publications such as Men’s Journal, Denver Westword, Outdoor Life, Backpacker, and more.
Please take a minute to peruse my work. I’m always looking to connect with other writers, editors, and folks in the outdoor industry. Drop me a line here.
